Learning Dreams Featured in the Pioneer Press
Written by Dr. Jerry Stein
Learning Dreams was featured in the St. Paul Pioneer Press newspaper earlier this January.
For almost two years, Learning Dreams has been working at Cherokee Heights Elementary School in St. Paul’s West Side. The school, which currently serves over 500 students in Pre-K through 6th grade, has a high poverty level with 94 percent of the students receiving free and reduced lunch. That particular community is in critical need of time intensive, family oriented support, which can’t completely be provided at school.
Since coming to the area, Learning Dreams has worked with over 50 families to help them connect to life changing learning opportunities and to alter the way the West St. Paul community views learning.
Earlier this month, Learning Dreams was featured by the St. Paul Pioneer Press newspaper for its work at Cherokee Heights Elementary School. The article highlighted individual family stories as well as Learning Dreams’ innovative approach to community outreach in income stressed neighborhoods.
